Clary Sage College - Cosmetology, Spa & Esthetics

Sep 14, 2009 – Community Care College and its branch campuses, Clary Sage College and Oklahoma Technical College, held a campus-wide contest for students, staff, and faculty via its newly established and increasingly popular Facebook community. Students were asked to write a post to the College’s Facebook discussion boards about a time when a staff or faculty member went above and beyond to help them with an academic or personal problem. Entries poured in during the first two weeks in September, some detailing the caring gesture of a particular person and others exuding general praise for the College’s community spirit.

The winner of the contest was Lindsey Campbell, a Clary Sage Student who wrote the following about her cosmetology instructor, Jane Martin:

I've never EVER seen [Jane Martin] in a bad mood. She is the definition of a "morning person" she is funny and always makes sure we learn the chapter she teaches each week. She is always concerned about her students, she stopped me one day and asked if everything was ok because I had incompletes. I told her what was going on to cause me to miss those Mondays (I had NEVER missed any Mondays at that time) She was very concerned and was there for me if I ever needed anything I could come talk to her anytime. She always go well and beyond to make anything that is upsetting you out of your mind and makes you feel better. She is genuine and so sweet and I'm thankful she isn't just here for a job in teaching but here to make sure we become the best we can for this industry.

Both Lindsey and her instructor won a $50 gas card from QuikTrip. The runners-up were posted on the public marquee on the Community Care College campus.
